As usual, school's started and I've gotten to busy making art, to post art.
Lots of photography (a new thing) altered books and a growing number
of painting/sculpture hybrids.

But, if you happen to be in the area, there's a few shows you show probably
(by which I mean most definitely) check out.

-111th Annual Exhibition by Richmond and Area Artists
at the Richmond Art Museum in Richmond, Indiana. A few other BSU students/faculty
and I have work in the show, which opens this Thursday
www.richmondartmuseum.org/exhi…

-Findings; the 2009 Art in Italy Show in the Atrium Gallery
Runs from November 10th to the 24th, with a fantastical opening the 13th.
(work on the street is, there's going to be Nutella. Get Excited.)
Drawings, paintings and some mixed media works by the 17 students and 2 professors
who went on BSU art dept's 33 day field study in Italy.

And in other art related news, am going as Andy Warhol for Halloween.

ArtsWalk; The One Night a Year Muncie Doesn't Suck

If you're going to be in the area tomorrow, you should probably most definitely check out
ARTSWALK!

Downtown Muncie, from 5 - 9 pm, gallery openings (with free food), performance/street art, musicians, art for sale (including yours truly and the rest of the BSU Fine Arts League)

Also, don't forget to check out the galleries on campus, as well as :iconrutske: 's Living Room Gallery. Support non-traditional venues!! (And those who show there...i.e. me.)

Get Excited.

Less than two weeks until the start of the semester (and my senior year).
Am alternating between the feeling that the end can't come soon enough and a blind cold-sweat panic that I'm not ready, not ready, can't make me.

To calm the latter sentiment, I've started compiling a list of possibilities for next year:

-Seek fulfilling employment at an art museum or gallery or dog-daycare
-Seek unfulfilling employment and use it write my breakthrough, best selling nonfiction piece.
-fulfill childhood/lifelong dream, become a librarian
-save spare change and flee to Chile/Europe/Whatever foreign land beckons when the time comes.
-Attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail, fail, be rescued and befriended by bigfoot, learn his ways and become woodland legend in my own right.
-Sell body to science for medical testing, acquire some sort of superpowers. Decide later whether to use them for good or evil.

...in other news, I can't decide if my new soap smells like rain or old lady.

Rode the train to Chicago last weekend to see one of my best friends, B as well as the new modern wing at the Art Institute. I don't care what plans you have for the rest of the summer, cancel them and head to the Windy City if you want to have your brain explode with greatness. Saw tons of Joseph Cornell, a Rothko (dies) and a Joan Mitchell in person for the first time. Then I pooped my pants.

Have about two hundred and seven ideas for projects/pieces I want to do, especially after this past weekend including a series of paintings, drawings, and a possible comic collaboration with a friend. I've started maybe two. The rest require more space (read: more cat-free space. The joys of pet ownership), especially the altered book pieces. Daily life keeps getting in the way as well. I don't know if it's my impending graduation that's making me nostalgic and sentimental, but I've been less of a hermit than I usually am in the summer. Instead I've been filling my sketchbook with lists of ideas and plans and silly cartoons. It has been one of busiest/best summers of my life, but I'm starting to get itchy to return to the studios, try and get that "suicidal edge" my print prof, DJ talked about.

In other news recently discovered Jim Dine. Look him up. Be amazed.

So after having this account and doing essentially nothing with it for the past two years, I've decided it's time for an update.

So, uh. Ta-da?

I'm working on posting all my work from the past semester and my recent trip to Italy as well as what I've been working on lately.

(More to come when I figure out my camera woes.)
